Ingredients:
1 2/3 cups plain flour
125 grams butter, chopped
1/4 cup iced water
confectioners sugar
250 grams fresh dates, chopped
1/3 cup water
3/4 cup walnuts, chopped
1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
Directions:
Sift flour into large bowl, rub in butter, and gradually stir in enough water to mix to firm dough. Knead dough on lightly floured surface for about 5 minutes or until smooth, cover; refrigerate for 1 hour.
Roll pastry on floured surface until 3mm thick, cut into 7cm rounds.
Combine dates and water in small pan, simmer, uncovered, for about 5 minutes or until dates are softened. Stir in remaining ingredients; cool.
Brush edges or pastry rounds with water, drop a teaspoon of filling into center of each round, fold over to enclose filling; press edges together. Shape into crescents; place 2cm apart on greased oven trays. Bake in a 180°C (Gas mark 4) oven about 20 minutes; cool on wire racks. Toss crescents in confectioners sugar.
