The
open kitchen provides you with a good view of the extraordinary cooking
process involved in the creation of delicious Thai dishes.
As arguably one of Cairo's best Thai restaurants, the Bird Cage
features an eclectic Asian décor with wooden floors, water features and
starkly stylish table settings plus lavish booths for more intimate
gatherings.
The menu ranges over traditional Thai favourites” the crab cakes,
shrimp spring rolls or and tom yum soup are especially recommended,
while the Thai Satay skewers of chicken and beef served with a sweet
and creamy peanut sauce is virtually unmissable.
For main, try the Nua Nam Maan Hoi; stir fried beef with oyster sauce,
which is skilfully cooked with fresh and crunchy vegetables, that
combine well with the beef or the equally delectable Preiow Wan Taley;
stir fried seafood in a sweet and sour sauce. Eat wither with the Pad
Thai, glass noodles mixed in with vegetables and morsels of egg and
seafood and you'll find yourself enjoy a meal worthy of any restaurant
in Thailand.
For those with smaller appetites (or less time) there's a good-value
three-course degustation menu and a four-course 'bento-box' lunch
special that includes sensational ice cream for dessert.
Service is fast and efficient and the waiters knew the menu well.
