With its opulent splendour, the First Residence Tea Lounge has a nostalgic, colonial feel with high arches, hand-painted ceilings, intricate wood furnishings and extravagant chandeliers.
From the moment you enter, you know that you are far, far removed from the hassled manner that characterises other lunchtime establishments. Its quiet grandeur, the faint hum of content diners and the tantalizing aroma of strong coffee and aromatic teas welcome you. Refined, elegant and blessedly unhurried, the ambience is one of serenity personified. In addition to the exceptionally regal experience of 'Afternoon Tea', the Tea Lounge has an extensive variety of refreshingly different drinks such as Flower Power, a delicious blend of rose petals, hibiscus and chamomile or Tropical Tea, an infusion of lemongrass, chamomile, ginger and honey. Other note-worthy items include specialty coffees such as Arabic Coffee, a stimulating blend of green coffee, saffron and cardamom, Moroccan Tea, a special mixture of saffron, anis, lemon, mint and green tea and Lemongrass tea, a refreshing blend of English Breakfast tea, lemongrass and mint.
A veritable assortment of light snack items are also available including sandwiches and Sautéed Mushroom with Smoked Duck and Smoked Turkey with Fruit Relish in sun-dried Tomato Bread, salads and Chef Yoshi's Japanese selections featuring Atlantic Salmon, Tuna and Sea bass Nigiri, Californian Rolls plus Crabmeat and Seaweed Cones.
A delightfully decadent selection of mouth-watering desserts such as Trio of Chocolate, a sinful combination of chocolate milkshake, white chocolate mousse and dark chocolate fudge cake, Traditional Apple Pie and Crème Brulee with pear compote and pear sorbet. Oriental sweets are highly recommended with such tantalizing delights as Baklava, a pastry with chopped nuts, spices and honey-lemon syrup, or Om Ali, a puff pastry with cream and Pistachio nuts.
A pianist only adds to the sophisticated ambience, in addition to the exceptional attention to detail and the personal touch offered by the attentive staff, which epitomizes The First Residence's philosophy.
